Things have been pretty bleh lately in life, haven't peen posting because there isn't much to say...
As far as school is going, I've finished English 101, so far with promising grades. We had 3 assignments, and I've finished 2, both of them got an A. I'll post them up here later for anyone interested in reading my writing. I've got a research paper due pretty damn soon and it's on a deadline extension, I haven't started the first draft yet. ARGH. Programming is a snap, while I'm not making perfect grades in that (my coding methods are pretty screwy), I've only missed two days and handed in every assignment so far. First Year Experience is also mind-numbingly easy; if I knew it was just going to be a similar course to English 094, I wouldn't have bothered, though I HAVE learned some good college survival concepts in that class. My uncle gave me a computer that he had issues getting running after upgrading. It's a Pentium 4 (Prescott Core) 3.0 GHz, with 2 GB of PC3200 RAM. He had issues getting it to POST, I managed to get it running. However, after that it intermittently crashes with random STOP errors while in Windows XP. At first, I had assumed it was a memory issue, but it continued to crash even with known good memory in it. At that point I assumed it was the motherboard, and simply reassembled my old computer. However, My uncle then gives me the processor that the machine came with: a P4 at 1.8GHz. I threw it in last night and booted it up into Windows XP setup (didn't actually do anything since I took the hard disk out of it) with no issue, and the thing ran half as hot as the faster processor. I'll look into it more when I have a day off, but now I'm starting to think that either the processor is overheating, or it's broken. The board being shot is also a possibility. In between this all, I've been playing Halo 3: ODST a lot. The campaign, while a bit cheesy and cliche story and character development-wise, was a new experience and pretty fun. Firefight is frustratingly fun, though the waves where they dump a swarm of Drones on you in any map make me put on my rage face. I'll write a review sometime when I get bored, I suppose, instead of cramming Halo babble into my blog post. %-) |
